The Role

As a Security Advisor, your vital role is to provide information security advice, assurance, support, and guidance. By ensuring the protection and proper management of information and systems within this government organization, you contribute to compliance with current best practices. Your efforts are instrumental in evaluating, implementing, and maintaining robust security measures. By safeguarding the organisation's assets, your work extends its impact to benefit your colleagues, family, and Aotearoa as a whole. 

The responsibilities 

  • Generating comprehensive security risk assessment reports to identify, evaluate, and assess risks, as well as recommend suitable controls for existing internal systems.
  • Aiding in the investigation, management, and swift resolution of reported operational security issues, risks, and incidents.
  • Enhancing cyber security through vigilant monitoring, analysis, reporting, compliance, and risk management. Crafting and upholding robust policies, standards, and SOPs
  • Creating and maintaining documents and processes for effective management of security risks.
  • Fostering collaboration between ICT personnel and business teams to identify, evaluate, assess, and effectively manage security risks. Ensuring continuous monitoring, reporting, and compliance oversight
  • Deliver security advice, mentoring, and support to internal teams, using industry best practices such as the NZISM.
  • Contributing to the planning and development of security policies and standards.
The Person

You’ll possess a strong grasp of technical vulnerabilities, knowledge of security frameworks and in particular the NZISM. Your expertise will serve as a crucial contributor to enhancing the organization's security posture and ensuring alignment with its strategic goals.

Cybersecurity qualifications are highly desirable!
